New hours take effect during construction season
TIFFIN, OHIO – March 27, 2019 – The City of Tiffin announced that starting April 8, hours of operation for the engineers assigned to the City Engineer’s Office will change to 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The change in hours is to be seasonal to accommodate the construction season (April 8-Sept. 27). To minimize impact to services provided to the general public, the office will offer, on a limited basis, scheduled appointments between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Zoning Inspector’s hours will not change from the operational hours of 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
City Engineer Matt Watson said with the change and recent remodel of the office, he expects to improve functionality and efficiency. “This change simply makes sense and is just another step in efforts to improve the overall functionality and efficiency of the City Engineer’s Office. Most contractors begin their work day around 7 a.m., so by aligning the department’s service hours with the seasonal demand for those services, the engineering staff will be able to be more responsive when accommodating the needs of both the City’s Public Works Department and contractors working on both public and private projects within the City of Tiffin.”
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz thanked Watson for being proactive in reorganizing the office to improve services. “With the voters’ passage of the income tax levy last year, there will be more roadwork than ever before in Tiffin. These new hours help insure we make the most efficient use of these additional funds. I congratulate Matt for thinking outside the box as we begin to oversee these projects.”
