Spring Severe Weather Awareness week in Ohio is March 19th through the 25th and Seneca County will participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday March 22nd.  The Seneca County EMA will activate the outdoor warning sirens located in Tiffin, Fostoria and in township locations at 9:50am. Schools, businesses and households are encouraged to take this opportunity to review safety procedures and plans for your students, employees and customers, and families.

It is important to understand that the sirens located around the cities and county are intended to be heard from outside.  Although, depending on your proximity to a siren, you may hear them in your house, or other buildings, they aren’t designed to be heard inside.  When you hear these sirens, you are to get to safety and then check in with media outlets to get more information.

You can sign up for notifications on your cellular device through the Seneca County Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS) by texting ‘SenecaAlerts!’ to 69310 or by going to senecacountyema.org and clicking on the WENS button and filling out the form. Seneca County EMA will be sending out test messages during the Statewide Tornado Drill.

If you have any questions about the tornado drill or the WENS system, please contact Seneca County EMA Administrator John Spahr at 419.447.0266 ext. 6710 or email jspahr@senecacountyohio.gov.
